International Status of the BFHI and the WHO/UNICEF Report on the First Hours After Birth
The Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative was launched as a global programme to incentivize maternity facilities throughout the world to adhere to the Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding. The module will explore the current status of the BFHI in countries around the world. It will also look at the vital importance of skin-to-skin in the first hour after birth and the ways countries around the world are implementing this critical step (step 4 of the BFHI). In addition, it will explore the ways that institutions worldwide are protecting, promoting, and supporting breastfeeding according to the World Health Organization. 10 Contact Hours for RNs, 10.0L CERPs for IBCLCs, 10 Contact Hours for CLCs. Module includes monographs, self-check questions, and evaluation.
